Goodyear Tire Chooses Symantec to Protect Against Malicious Code

World's Largest Tire Maker Standardizes On Symantec Anti-Virus Protection Across the Enterprise

CUPERTINO, Calif. - Oct. 1, 2001 - Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC), a world leader in Internet security, today announced that Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company has selected Symantec to provide Internet security across the company's network of 90,000 desktops, servers and gateways. Under the terms of the five-year agreement, Symantec will provide Norton AntiVirus protection against malicious code at all virus entry points on Goodyear's network and provide Goodyear with 24-hour, live technical support by Symantec's security experts.

Symantec's anti-virus solutions provide customers with automatic protection against viruses and other malicious code at all entry points, including e-mail attachments and Internet downloads. The solutions provide hands-free detection, analysis and repair of viruses, malicious ActiveX controls, Java applets and other dangerous fast-moving threats.
