Nestlé Standardizes on Symantec Technology

World's Largest Food Company Buys 100,000 Seat Licenses for Symantec Antivirus, pcAnywhere and Ghost Solutions for Global Implementation

CUPERTINO, Calif. - Jan. 17, 2002 - Symantec today announced that Nestlé, the world's largest food company, has standardized on Symantec technology to protect its worldwide desktop, server and gateway network from virus infection and other malicious code.

Nestlé has purchased a four year 100,000 seat license for Symantec's desktop and server antivirus solution to complement a 100,000 seat gateway antivirus license it already holds. In addition, Nestlé has purchased four year 100,000 seat licenses for Symantec's pcAnywhere and Ghost enterprise administration solutions.

Nestlé has also purchased a four year support service for Symantec to provide on-going technical support as well as assistance in the global roll-out program which is already underway. Nestlé, which owns market-leading brands including Perrier ®, Vittel ®, Nescafé ®, Maggi ®, Buitoni ® and Nestea ®, as well as pharmaceutical subsidiaries such as Alcon, has operations in almost every country in the world.

The new license agreements extend a long-term relationship between Nestlé and Symantec. Nestlé had previously used Symantec's antivirus products across more than half of its worldwide network. Gail Hamilton, Symantec executive vice president, said, "With many of the world's most valuable brands to protect, Nestlé understands better than most the need for comprehensive network security."

Standardizing on Symantec's Ghost will enable Nestlé to reduce IT costs by providing administrators an effective solution to remotely clone, deploy, configure, back-up, restore and distribute software specific images to network and mobile PCs. In addition, pcAnywhere will provide customizable, secure, remote control for helpdesk support, server support and for remote access to machines.

Symantec's antivirus solutions are a key component of Symantec Enterprise Security, which provides any size organization with the technology, global response and services necessary to manage its information security. Symantec's comprehensive solution offers best-of-breed products to protect gateways, servers, and clients with virus protection, firewall security, intrusion detection and vulnerability management. Symantec Enterprise Security also includes the Digital Immune System, Symantec's unique technology for automatic detection and cure of security threats.

Symantec Enterprise Administration tools provide market-leading solutions that make it easy to deliver IT services. Symantec Ghost is the premier tool for enterprise PC management, user migration, and application deployment, while pcAnywhere is an easy-to-use solution for fast and secure remote access to PCs and servers.
