Symantec Offers Technical Training Classes for Partner Program in Toronto

Training Classes for Symantec Enterprise Security Manager and Intruder Alert Available

TORONTO, Ont. - February 15, 2002 - Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC), the world leader in Internet security technology, today announced the availability of technical training classes in Toronto as part of its partner program. The technical training is offered on Symantec Enterprise Security Manager (ESM) and Intruder Alert, Symantec's host-based vulnerability assessment and intrusion detection products.

Using a combined lecture-lab environment, Symantec's ESM training classes will teach participants to install, configure and maintain Symantec's ESM across an NT platform. The class will also address cross platform deployment and the importance of security policies. Symantec's Intruder Alert training covers product installation and set-up, security event monitoring, creating custom policies and security planning and procedures. Lab exercises will be used throughout the course to reinforce the concepts and procedures that are presented.

"Becoming authorized to sell Symantec's Internet security products is an important step towards growing our customer base," said Steve Conn, President, 3-Way Systems. "Symantec is a security-oriented company and we have faith that it's the right partner to help us add value to our customers."

Symantec's partner program, announced in July 2001, is designed to provide its enterprise partners - including proven Internet security experts, value-added resellers and other channel partners - with the expertise and resources to plan, implement and manage complex security architectures for their customers using Symantec solutions.

"Symantec is committed to helping our partners provide certified security expertise on Symantec solutions to their customers," said Kevin Krempulec, Canadian channel manager, Symantec Corp. "The shortage of qualified security experts in the marketplace provides Symantec's partners a tremendous opportunity to grow their business by providing customers with a complete range of security products, support and specialized knowledge."

Symantec's channel partner program has created a worldwide framework to give a variety of channel partners the opportunity to expand their business in Internet security and fill the need for qualified experts on Symantec security solutions.

In addition to comprehensive sales materials and award-winning technical support, Symantec's Partner Program offers enterprise partners extensive fee-based training and certification on the implementation of Symantec solutions in four technical areas critical in today's networked environment: virus protection and content management, firewall and VPN technologies, intrusion detection systems and vulnerability management.

Availability
The next technical training classes will be held from Feb. 19 to Feb. 22, 2002 in North York, Ontario. Further details on each course and registration can be found at www.symantec.com/education. Partners who complete the training will be authorized to sell Symantec's Enterprise Security Manager and Intruder Alert to their customers. They can also apply this knowledge to completing the certification exams on these products, allowing them to differentiate their technical expertise and client offerings.
