Symantec Offers Webcast on Enterprise Wireless Security

CUPERTINO, Calif. - June 12, 2002 - Symantec Corp., (Nasdaq: SYMC), the world leader in Internet security, today announced that it would host a Webcast offering practical recommendations on how to safely deploy wireless technologies in an enterprise environment. The Webcast, titled "Enterprise Wireless Security: From Planning to Production," will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2002 at 8 a.m. and again at 1 p.m. PDT. Attendees can register at http://enterprisesecurity.symantec.com/Content/webcastslist.cfm.

Jason Conyard, Director of Wireless Product Management for Symantec, will lead the Webcast. Conyard will discuss specific practices that enterprises should follow to protect themselves in an increasingly wireless environment. He will highlight security considerations users need to take into account when planning and implementing emerging technologies such as wireless LANs, PDAs, smartphones and other wireless solutions.

"Organizations can no longer take a 'wait-and-see' attitude when it comes to wireless," Conyard said. "The reality is that without direction or guidance, employees are buying, installing and running mobile technology today. They are in control of the purchase process, the information flow, and, increasingly, the organization's security."

Jason Conyard is an expert on the global communications marketplace. The past 12 years have found him working on six continents handling the regulatory, technical and commercial aspects of worldwide communications projects.

Jason currently serves as Symantec Corporation's Director of Wireless Product Management. In this capacity, he is responsible for mapping out Symantec's global response to wireless security threats.

Born in the county of Kent in the United Kingdom, Jason has been based in the UK, the Netherlands and the United States throughout his career.
