Symantec Announces New Security Solution Education Courses for Enterprise Security Professionals

Courses Qualify for Continuing Professional Education Credit

CUPERTINO, Calif. - August 7, 2002 - Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC), the world leader in Internet security, today announced that it is offering instructor-led security solutions courses for enterprise security professionals. Education courses like "Security Essentials in the Enterprise" or "Recognizing and Reacting to Cyber Criminals in the Enterprise" will be offered at Symantec training centers in Atlanta, GA, Cupertino, CA, Reston, VA, Waltham, MA, and many other locations throughout the world.

The Security Solutions education series will provide broad-based vendor neutral enterprise level security education, that will focus on developing knowledge and expertise in today's key security areas, including vulnerability management, firewalls and VPN, intrusion detection and response, virus protection and content filtering. Students focus on identifying security issues, designing and implementing solutions for specific business scenarios and the on-going management, control and maintenance of security solutions.

"Symantec's Security Solutions education series will approach security issues in a product- and vendor-neutral fashion," said Jörg Sikatzki, Senior Director of Education Services for Symantec. "This series of classes will equip students with the necessary knowledge and tools to solve problems in a way that facilitates and enhances the business operations of their respective organizations."

Students holding Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or System Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) can earn one Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credit for each hour of education accomplished in this education series from the International Information Systems Security Certifications Consortium, Inc.
