Symantec Offers Webcast on Security Staff Retention and Development

CUPERTINO, Calif. - August 20, 2002 - Symantec Corp., (Nasdaq: SYMC), the world leader in Internet security, today announced that it will host a Webcast offering recommendations on security training, education and certification programs that will help organizations make the most of their security personnel investments. The Webcast, titled "Growing (and Keeping) a Good Security Staff" will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2002 at 9 a.m. PST or 1 p.m. PST. Bob Shaffer, manager of Security Solutions Curriculum Development for Education Services at Symantec, will lead the Webcast. Shaffer will discuss how to use education and certification programs to develop critical skills to improve recruiting, enrich careers and strengthen staff retention programs.

"Many IT managers who are responsible for setting strategic security decisions and policies need to stretch their security technology investment by growing and keeping good people," said Shaffer.
