Symantec Offers Webcast on Symantec Incident Manager
A Key Application in the Symantec Security Management System, Symantec Incident Manager Provides a Comprehensive View into the Security of an Enterprise
CUPERTINO, Calif. - December 10, 2002 - Symantec Corp. (NASDAQ: SYMC), the world leader in Internet security, today announced that it will host a Webcast to introduce Symantec Incident Manager, a key component of the Symantec Security Management System. Symantec Incident Manager consolidates and correlates events across disparate protection solutions, turning security data into actionable information. The Webcast, titled "Managing Security Incidents in the Enterprise" will be held on Thursday, December 12 at 8:00 a.m. PT and again at 1:00 p.m. PT. Attendees can register at http://enterprisesecurity.symantec.com/Content/webcastinfo.cfm?WebcastID=39.
John Heath, senior product manager at Symantec, will lead the Webcast. Heath will discuss how organizations can lower costs and improve their overall security risk profile by adopting an integrated approach to security and incident management. He will also present Symantec Incident Manager, and discuss how it works with the other components of the Symantec Security Management System to allow users to proactively secure their network against known threats and to respond in real time against new attacks.
"Nearly 10 million security events occur each month in organizations of even moderate size. It can be challenging to sort through them to find the most critical security incidents in time to take action," said Heath. "Symantec Incident Manager provides IT with a better view of their organization's security posture in real time, in one console, enabling them to respond quickly and effectively to actual security incidents."
The Symantec Security Management System is a comprehensive set of management applications that improves security efficiency by delivering proactive control of the security infrastructure. The key components of the Symantec Security Management System are Symantec Event Managers, Symantec Incident Manager and Symantec Enterprise Security Manager. All of the Symantec Security Management System components are built in compliance with Symantec Enterprise Security Architecture (SESA), which provides a standards-based interoperability framework for Symantec and third-party solutions to work together to provide secure, manageable and scalable enterprise security.
"Managing Security Incidents in the Enterprise" is the second Webcast in the Symantec Security Management System Introduction Series. The first Webcast, titled "Introduction to Symantec Security Management System" and hosted by Symantec vice president and chief technology officer Rob Clyde, was held on November 14. The archived Webcast can be viewed by registering at http://enterprisesecurity.symantec.com/content/webcastinfo.cfm?WebcastID=36.
