Oracle Joins Symantec Technology Partner Program

OracleŽ Collaboration Suite 2.0 Certified Interoperable with Symantec AntiVirus Scan Engine

Toronto, ON. - December 16, 2003 - Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC), the world leader in Internet security, today announced that OracleŽ Collaboration Suite 2.0 has been certified by Symantec to be interoperable with the Symantec AntiVirus Scan Engine. Utilizing development tools available within the Symantec Technology Partner Program, Oracle developed an interface to the Symantec AntiVirus Scan Engine that better enables email messages passing through Oracle Collaboration Suite to be automatically scanned for viruses.

Symantec AntiVirus Scan Engine detects and protects against viruses, worms, and Trojan horses in all major file types, including mobile code and compressed file formats. Employing award-winning Symantec technologies that are optimized for speed, the Symantec AntiVirus Scan Engine imposes minimal resource demands on Oracle Collaboration Suite and can be installed on the same Solaris or Red Hat Linux server as Oracle Collaboration Suite or over the network on a separate Solaris, Red Hat or Windows 2000 Server.

"Protecting email servers from malicious threats provides the enterprise with a first line of defense against malicious attacks," said Greg Gotta, vice president, gateway and network security at Symantec. "The Symantec AntiVirus Scan Engine enables flexible, high performance integration of industry-leading virus protection to help prevent the spread of viruses within the corporate network."

"Oracle is committed to providing customers with effective security solutions," said Sunir Kapoor, vice president of development, Oracle Collaboration Suite. "The Symantec AntiVirus Scan Engine and Oracle Collaboration Suite provides customers with the industry's most secure platform for their collaborative enterprise environments."
