Symantec Offers Webcast On Intrusion Protection

Symantec Architect Will Discuss The Important Role Intrusion Protection Plays in Enterprise Security

Toronto, ON. - January 13, 2004 - Symantec Corp. (NASDAQ: SYMC), the world leader in Internet security, today announced that it will host a Webcast on intrusion protection and the important role it plays in an enterprise's security strategy. The Webcast, titled "Defending Your Organization with Intrusion Protection Solutions," will be held on Thursday, January 15 at 9:00 a.m. PT. Attendees can register at https://enterprisesecurity.symantec.com/content/webcastregistration.cfm?SSL=YES&webcastID=76.

Jeremy Bennett, an architect at Symantec who leads the design and architecture of Symantec ManHunt and Symantec Decoy Server, will discuss how Symantec Intrusion Protection solutions can fortify an organization's overall security posture, allowing it to securely leverage the benefits of the Internet while controlling costs, enabling effective IT resource planning, and reducing exposure to legal liability.

"Intrusion detection and intrusion prevention are indispensable components of today's security infrastructure," said Bennett. "Symantec's Webcast on intrusion protection is of particular interest to security IT management who are responsible for making strategic security decisions, setting policies and learning about how security issues affect business."

Utilizing a multi-layered approach that includes network-based, host-based and decoy-based solutions, Symantec Intrusion Protection helps detect, prevent, respond to, and manage a broad range of incidents at multiple tiers of the network.
