Symantec's Norton AntiVirus Provides Added Protection to Toshiba Canada Notebook Computers

Canada's Leading Mobile Computer Provider Ships Norton AntiVirus on All Notebooks

TORONTO, ON. - June 16, 2004 - Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC), the world leader in information security, today announced that Toshiba of Canada has selected Norton AntiVirus 2004 to secure all Toshiba notebook computers sold in Canada. Toshiba of Canada is a wholly owned subsidiary of Toshiba Corporation, one of the world's largest integrated manufacturers of electronic products and semiconductors, and is Canada's leading provider of mobile and handheld computers. Norton AntiVirus 2004 is the world's most trusted antivirus solution.

Symantec security solutions also continue to ship on Toshiba notebook computers throughout North America and Japan.

"Toshiba notebook computer customers demand power, performance, usability, and reliability right out of the box," said Trevor Dantas, vice president, Technical Services, ISG. "By including Symantec's Norton AntiVirus preinstalled on our notebook computers, Toshiba Canada is helping protect the productivity of our customers while ensuring the safety of their systems and information."

"Since its launch, Norton AntiVirus has been the antivirus of choice for computer users across the board, from home users and students to highly mobile professionals," said Matthew Moynahan, vice president, Consumer Products and Solutions, for Symantec. "The combination of our exceptional virus protection with Toshiba's powerful and versatile notebooks provides Toshiba Canada customers secure, high-performance mobile computing solutions to fit any lifestyle."

Under terms of the one-year agreement, customers also receive a complimentary 90-day subscription to Symantec virus protection updates, with the option to purchase a full year subscription when the complimentary period expires.

Norton AntiVirus 2004 protects email, instant messages, and other files by automatically removing viruses, worms, and Trojan horses. Expanded threat detection alerts users to non-virus threats such as spyware and keystroke logging programs. Norton AntiVirus 2004 scans and cleans both incoming and outgoing email messages, and worm- and script-blocking detects new threats even before virus protection updates are created for them. In addition, Norton AntiVirus 2004 automatically downloads new virus protection updates to protect against the latest threats.
