Symantec and VERITAS to Webcast Investor Meeting on Merger

TORONTO, ON - January 10, 2005 - Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq:SYMC) and VERITAS Software Corp. (Nasdaq: VRTS) will webcast the proceedings of a meeting for the investment community regarding the proposed merger.

All interested parties are invited to listen to Symantec's chairman and chief executive officer, John W. Thompson, discuss the transaction during a webcast on Tuesday, Jan. 11, at 2:15 p.m. GMT/ 9:15 a.m. ET.

Investors will have the opportunity to listen to the meeting and replay the proceedings over the Internet through Symantec's Investor Relations Web site at www.symantec.com/invest. To listen to the live discussions, please go to the Web site at least 15 minutes early to register, download, and install any necessary audio software.
