Symantec CEO to Address the Empire Club of Canada

Toronto, ON - February 9, 2005 - Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC), the global leader in information security, today announced that John W. Thompson, Symantec's chairman and chief executive officer, will address the Empire Club of Canada. Thompson's speech is scheduled for Thursday, February 17, at 12 p.m. EST at The Fairmont Royal York - Imperial Room.

In his speech, Thompson will discuss the future of security as a business concern and how the industry will need to evolve to continue to serve customers.
