Symantec Launches Integrated Worldwide Partner Program

Plans Five-Fold Increase in IT Infrastructure Investment for Partners

Toronto, ON - March 13, 2006 - Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC) today announced the global deployment of its new partner program and partner portal, PartnerNet. The new partner program tracks and rewards partner performance for the value and expertise they bring to customers as well as the volume of products and services they sell. The new program includes incentives for partners making active investments in training, specialization, and marketing efforts that enhance their Symantec offerings.

As part of a multi-phased rollout, Symantec delivered a unified framework supporting its full portfolio of security and availability partners, along with a comprehensive online platform offering information on products and services, training programs, and account management. All current Symantec partners, including former VERITAS partners, were placed into the new partner program and mapped into one of the four membership levels - Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Registered - based on their activity in prior Symantec and VERITAS programs.

As part of the new program structure and incentives, Symantec has committed a five-fold increase in its partner-focused technology infrastructure investment. The additional investments are designed to expand the capabilities of Symantec's PartnerNet online portal to support the company's growing base of more than 60,000 partners in 37 countries around the world.

"Launching the new partner program less than one year after one of the largest software mergers in history is a testament to Symantec's commitment to its partners and our unswerving focus on delivering both the programs and infrastructure to help ensure our mutual success in the market," said Julie Parrish, vice president, Symantec Global Channel Office. "Our partners are a valuable part of our company, and they are key to delivering value to customers. This first phase of the new partner program will provide partners with a simple, complete framework for doing business with Symantec."

As Symantec's first integrated extranet post merger, PartnerNet combines more than eight different sites into one unified Web portal, thus streamlining the process for partners to access a variety of online resources. In addition to viewing training programs, partners can review competitive information and utilize other online resources, including custom marketing, quote generator, and place orders for products, all with one password.

Deep Collaboration with Global Partners

Symantec engaged its partners throughout the integration process - starting in February 2005 - with formal surveys of VERITAS and Symantec partners. Symantec's Global and Regional Partner Advisory Council members were key contributors to the development of the new partner program, offering interviews and reviews of the program's design and implementation. Symantec will continue to employ partners throughout the multi-phased rollout, and on an ongoing basis following the launch, to further enhance the program and provide additional value to its partners.

"PCMS IT Advisor Group recognizes the tremendous value that Symantec's new integrated partner program provides," said Matt Scherocman, director, IT Advisor Group. "The unified portal enables us to be more efficient and simplifies the process of accessing important resources and information so we can focus more on our customers, ensuring their needs are met with industry leading solutions."

"In order to maintain momentum for our partners and help them provide innovative security and availability solutions to their customers, Symantec has delivered more than 20 new products and acquired technologies, cross-selling product promotions, a combined deal registration, unified Web portal, and an integrated partner program - all with the input from our partners each step of the way," said Parrish.
