Symantec names David Sykes Director of North Asia

Hong Kong -- February 7 2002 - Symantec, the world leader in Internet security, has appointed David Sykes to the newly created role of Director of North Asia, responsible for developing Symantec's business in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea.

Based in Symantec's Hong Kong office, Sykes will offer strategic leadership in sales, marketing, customer service in four critical security areas: antivirus, firewalls, intrusion detection and vulnerability management. This also includes building channel partner relationships in the three markets as well as expanding Symantec Security Services business.

Sykes previously served Symantec as its Australian National Sales Director, where he helped build and lead the Enterprise Sales team, growing the business four fold.

Before joining Symantec, Sykes spent more than ten years at Computer Associates where he had the roles of Australian General Manager and New Zealand Managing Director. Prior to this he was with Digital Equipment Corporation and Broken Hill Proprietary Company Limited.
