Symantec gives Hong Kong customers a chance to win IBM notebook, Sony PlayStation 2

Hong Kong -- May 17 2002 - Symantec, the worldwide leader in Internet security, is launching two promotions in Hong Kong to alert small businesses to the need for protection against sophisticated and prevalent Internet threats.

The first promotion is a lucky draw for an IBM notebook and eight units of Sony PlayStation 2 for customers who purchase Norton Internet Security 2002 or Norton SystemWorks 2002. Symantec is also introducing a small office/home office (SOHO) promotion. Customers who buy Norton Ghost 2002 and WinFax PRO version 9.0 or 10.0, along with either Norton Internet Security 2002, Norton SystemWorks 2002 or Norton AntiVirus 2002, will be granted a supermarket cash coupon valued at HK$200.

The two promotions are intended to reinforce Symantec's commitment to providing comprehensive solutions to Hong Kong small businesses and home users.

"Despite extensive media coverage and increased public awareness of Internet threats and computer viruses, many users have still not installed effective security protection," said David Sykes, Director of North Asia for Symantec. "For example, Symantec Security Response received 3,000 to 5,000 submissions of the recent Klez virus per day from around the world. It caused serious damage to businesses in Hong Kong with hundreds of submissions during the peak of the outbreak."

"The two promotions are designed to encourage SOHO and end users to take action about security threats and protect themselves," added Sykes.

To take part in the lucky draw, customers simply mail the barcode of Norton Internet Security or Norton SystemWorks and the promotion sticker glued on the box, together with a copy of the purchase receipt and their contact details (please specify "Symantec lucky draw" on the envelop), to "Symantec, General Post Office Box No. 6913, Hong Kong" from 17 May to 30 June. The results of the lucky draw will be printed on 11 July in Sing Tao Daily, Ming Pao, HK iMail, SCMP and the winners will be notified personally.

Entrants in the SOHO promotion must send the barcodes of Norton Ghost and WinFax PRO, plus one of either Norton Internet Security, Norton SystemWorks or Norton AntiVirus, three promotion stickers, an official receipt and their contact details (please specify "SOHO special value promotion" on the envelop) to "Symantec, General Post Office Box No. 6913, Hong Kong" from 17 May to 30 June. Cash coupons will be mailed to the applicants.
