- Web Tools, a new feature offering easy-to-use tools for removing Internet clutter, managing wanted and unwanted cookies, and keeping dial-up connections alive while downloading online.
- One Button Checkup, with new customised scanning options, allowing users to perform the system scans they want with the click of a button. A history file now logs One Button Checkup's activity so users can share the information with technical support or just keep a record.

New Web Tools Keep PCs Free from Clutter
Surfing the Web often takes its toll on PCs in the form of Internet clutter that get written onto the hard drive each time a user goes online. The Web Cleanup feature inside Norton SystemWorks 2003 provides an intuitive method of removing these cumbersome files with simplicity and ease, allowing the user to customise the experience.
Users who access the Internet via dial-up connections often experience difficulty downloading large files. Connection Keep Alive remedies this issue by simulating user activity when Norton SystemWorks 2003 senses a drop in online activity. If the period of inactivity continues beyond a specified limit, users are prompted before Connection Keep Alive allows the connection to be dropped.
Proactive and Intuitive Antivirus Protection
Norton SystemWorks 2003 offers the most trusted antivirus solution for computer users with the inclusion of Norton AntiVirus 2003. Norton AntiVirus 2003 offers new protection from virus threats that spread through Instant Message services by automatically scanning incoming Instant Message attachments. This feature supports Yahoo! Instant Messenger, AOL Instant Messenger, MSN Messenger, and Windows Messenger. Norton AntiVirus 2003 also features unique, heuristics-based Worm Blocking technology that detects SMTP worms such as Nimda and Badtrans. Complemented by the powerful Script-Blocking technology that detects fast-moving script-based viruses, Norton AntiVirus 2003 keeps users protected from known and unknown threats, even before new virus definitions are created.
Norton SystemWorks 2003 Professional Edition
Symantec also offers Norton SystemWorks 2003 Professional Edition, designed especially for small business and power users. This edition includes all of the features in the standard edition, and adds three additional tools - Norton Ghost 2003, Process Viewer and PerformanceTest. Norton Ghost 2003 protects data from computer disasters by allowing users to create regular backups easily and recover files quickly and safely. Process Viewer enables users to see a multitude of information on each program on their systems, and the new PerformanceTest feature allows users to execute diagnostic and benchmarking functions to evaluate their PC's performance.
Norton Ghost 2003 allows customers to:
- Save and restore images from network drives to protect data from computer disasters;
- Efficiently create disk images and store them on hard disk drives, multiple types of media and supported CD-R/RW and DVD/RW drives using USB 1.1, 2.0, DVD and FireWire; and
- Back up hard disk drives by writing disk images directly to CD-R/RW and DVD/RW drives and removable magnetic media, allowing users conduct weekly data back-ups and perform events such as migrating to a new operating system.
