Symantec shields and empowers Chinese-language users with Norton Internet Security 2003 and Norton SystemWorks 2003

Enhanced suite products boost PC performance and deliver comprehensive online protection

Hong Kong -- December 5 2002 - Symantec, a world leader in Internet security, has launched Chinese-language versions of its best-selling security tool, Norton Internet Security 2003, and its popular PC problem-solving solution, Norton SystemWorks 2003.

Available from local resellers and distributors, the new software packages provide home and small business computer users with comprehensive Internet protection from hackers and viruses and problem-fixing capabilities to keep machines running safe, secure and trouble-free.

"With the introduction of Chinese-language Norton Internet Security 2003 and Norton SystemWorks 2003, Chinese-language home and small-business users can be assured of protected and hassle-free computing on all operating systems," said David Sykes, Director of North Asia, Symantec. "The new software protects users against emerging blended threats, such as Bugbear, Nimda, and Klez, which use multiple methods to attack and cause widespread damage."

Norton Internet Security 2003 is a comprehensive suite of online security and software privacy tools, combining firewall, intrusion detection, privacy control, antivirus and content filtering technologies in a single suite with a simple user interface. New benefits include Norton Spam Alert and usability improvements.

Norton SystemWorks 2003 comes with a newly localised Web Tools feature, which removes Internet clutter, manages wanted and unwanted cookies, and keeps dial-up connections alive while downloading online. The software package also comprises full versions of Norton AntiVirus, Norton Utilities and Norton CleanSweep.

Symantec has also introduced the Chinese version of Norton SystemWorks 2003 Professional Edition. Designed for small business and power users, the new edition includes all features in Norton SystemWorks 2003 and adds three additional tools - Norton Ghost, Process Viewer and PerformanceTest. Norton Ghost protects data from computer disasters by creating regular backups and recovering files in a quick-and-safe fashion. Process Viewer enables users to see a multitude of information on each programme, and the new PerformanceTest feature executes diagnostic and benchmarking functions to evaluate PC's performance.

Chinese-language Norton AntiVirus 2003, Norton Personal Firewall 2003 and Norton Ghost 2003 will be marketed as standalone products for different markets in Hong Kong.
