India is one of the first countries in the world where Symantec is introducing the AXENT range.
Symantec finalised the acquisition of AXENT Technologies, Inc., on December 18, 2001 in a stock-for-stock transaction valued at approximately US$975 million. Standalone security products are no longer sufficient to prevent sophisticated intrusion and virus attacks. The $150 million vulnerability assessment and intrusion detection market is expected to grow at a 48% CAGR to $1.0 billion by 2003. Speaking at the launch, Mr. Joy Ghosh, Country Manager, India, Symantec stated, "Today's announcement is a major step forward in aggressively implementing our enterprise strategy. As organisations continue to expand their e-business initiatives and open up their infrastructure via the Internet, we believe there is an enormous market opportunity to provide security products and services to protect these critical operations. Together it will span the needs of all customers from emerging businesses to the largest enterprises."
