MUMBAI -- February 6, 2001 Symantec Corporation, the world leader in Internet Security, recently organised its first Channel Partners meet at Udaipur to commemorate its first year of operations in India. The meet was attended by over 30 Symantec Partners from across the country. This is a part of Symantec's ongoing efforts to continue the development of strong working relationships with its Channel Partners.
"It is due to the excellent support from our Channel Partners, that we have witnessed phenomenal growth in India", said Mr. Garry Sexton, Vice President, Asia Pacific, Symantec. He further added, "This meet has given us an opportunity collaborate with our partners and develop winning strategies to address the Internet Security market in India."
A strong believer in the maxim 'Customer is the King', the whole meet was themed around Royalty. Right from the venue to the invite and dress code, it was traditional Rajashtani royalty, all the way.
As part of the royal theme, the invitation was designed as a royal message from the king of Symantec, Garry Sexton and was personally delivered by a "royal messenger dressed in a traditional royal costume. The invitation, designed as a royal scroll, was read out by the messenger to the invitee, informing him of the meet and its agenda. Continuing with the royal theme, elaborate Rajasthani cuisine was served on all the days of the meet followed by folk dances and ghazal evenings.
This initiative was undertaken in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Kolkatta, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad.
Concluding the event, Joy Ghosh, Country Manager, India, Symantec, reiterated, "This interaction has enabled us to effectively communicate our commitment to India and thank our Channel Partners for their continued support to make Symantec a leader in the Internet Security space in India."
Along with the fun and rejoicing, serious business aspects related to the market, the growth potential and the company's plans for India, including the recent launch of Symantec's solutions recently acquired from AXENT, its features and the marketing strategy were also discussed.
The meet was well appreciated by the participants as it enabled them to share their market experiences with other resellers from different parts of the country. To sum up the overall event, one of the Channel partners commented, "The meet was meticulously planned by Symantec and the execution was flawless. We enjoyed the attention to detail paid by Symantec in ensuring we were treated as Kings."
