Symantec launches CarrierScan for ISPs, ASPs in India
Mumbai -- October 30, 2001 -- Symantec Corporation,
a world leader in Internet Security Technology has launched Carrier Scan
- the bleeding edge Anti Virus solution for ISPs and ASPs in India. Symantec
CarrierScan Server is the industry's first carrier-class virus engine
that integrates high-performance, scalable anti-virus scanning and repair
capabilities into services, such as e-mail, network-based storage, data
caching, and other Web-based file transactions, using Symantec's, award-winning
anti-virus technology.
Symantec CarrierScan Server provides anti-virus scan and repair capabilities
to applications running on an IP network. Applications can simply pass
files for scanning to Carrier Scan Server, which in turn scans the files
for viruses. CarrierScan employs Symantec's anti-virus technologies to
detect malicious viruses, worms, and Trojan horses in all major file types,
including mobile code and compressed file formats.
Virus definitions and engines are updated automatically with no interruption
in virus scanning. The highly scalable product accommodates growing scan
volumes, additional servers, and provides automatic load balancing across
multiple servers.
