This worm is a new variant of W32.Magistr.24876@mm which targets allWindows applications. This is a mass-mailing worm which uses emailaddresses from the Windows and Eudora Address Book files, Outlook ExpressSent Items folder and Netscape Sent Items files. It causes systeminstability and overwrites hard drives. It also damages critical systemcomponents such as erasing CMOS and the Flash BIOS. It is capable ofsending confidential Microsoft Word documents to others. This worm alsoterminates ZoneAlarm before connecting to the internet. The subject line of the email is random and the mail attachment also has arandom extension (exe,bat, pif, com). |
