KUALA LUMPUR -- November 01, 2001 -- Symantec Corp. today announced that a new Gartner Dataquest report ranks

on new license revenue in 2000. With 14.7 percent market share worldwide,
Symantec topped the list of the top 25 security software vendors.

security in the corporate marketplace as well as a growing demand for
trusted products and services that counter the blended threats of today
and tomorrow," said. Ross Wilson, Senior Regional Director, South

market growth grew by 50 percent during the same period. The report also
noted that continued growth in the security software market is anticipated,
with both public and private industry moving security initiatives to the

moved from the No. 4 position to the No. 1 spot, holding 14.7 percent
