Q: How will Symantec services capabilities work together to support information integrity after the merger?
A: The combination of Symantec and VERITAS services capabilities will allow the merged company to better support both the security and availability needs of customers with a spectrum of high-value services. In addition, the combined company will provide education and training services for both security and availability, managed security services, threat and vulnerability early warning services, security response services, and a wide spectrum of customer and technical support services for both security and availability technologies. Available service offerings will evolve and be updated to address customer and market needs as required.

 Sales

Q: I am a current Symantec/VERITAS services customer. Who will my account manager be after the merger closes?
A: Until notified otherwise through official communications from Symantec, all account relationships and sales interactions with former VERITAS or Symantec sales team members will remain the same after the close of the merger.

Q: Will customers have to work with more than one salesperson to obtain Symantec services after the merger?
A: Symantec's intent is to simplify and streamline account management relationships for services and products to better support customer needs. Additional details about the post-merger account management process and sales engagement methodology will be provided as they are available.

Q: Will the current pricing structure for services offered by Symantec and VERITAS change as a result of the merger?
A: There are no current plans to change the pricing structure of existing Symantec or VERITAS services as a result of the merger. However, service offerings, pricing, and deliverable structure for services may change at any time as Symantec responds to market needs and customer requirements. If changes occur, notification of internal staff, customers, and partners will occur through proper communications channels using established processes.

 Contracting/Legal

Q: I am a current Symantec/VERITAS services customer. Will I need to sign a new contract for services after the merger closes?
A: All contracts for services currently in force on the day the merger closes will continue to be fully honored. Any changes to contracts currently in force will generally take place as a part of normal contract renewal processes.

Q: I currently am a services customer of both Symantec and VERITAS. How will I be billed after the merger closes?
A: For some time after the merger closes, the billing systems for the former VERITAS and Symantec companies will remain separate, so there may be cases where a customer would receive more than one bill for services provided by Symantec.

 Consulting Services

Q: What consulting services will Symantec offer after the merger?
A: In general, Symantec will offer two major types of consulting services for both security and availability needs. Consulting advisory services help customers define needs, understand regulatory requirements, assess risks, understand current programs, and define required additions or changes to people, process, and technology programs supporting availability and security requirements. Consulting solutions enablement services help customers accelerate and optimize the deployment of specific technologies that address security and availability needs by applying best practices to the design, deployment, configuration, and operation of technologies.

 Education Services

Q: What education and training services will Symantec offer after the merger?
A: Symantec will offer a range of technical training courses designed to help users of Symantec's security and availability technologies be more effective in deploying and operating those technologies. Symantec will also offer more generalized, customized training opportunities on subjects of security and availability interest through the Symantec Academy, and will continue to offer the Symantec Security Awareness Program for enhancing end user awareness of security best practices.

 Support

Q: I am a current Symantec/VERITAS customer with a technical support contract. Will the terms and delivery processes for technical support change after the merger?
A: Over the coming months we will be leveraging the collective vision and experience of Symantec and VERITAS to define innovative ways to enhance our combined Support offerings, and ultimately your support experience. In the interim, however, customers will continue to receive exceptional support from the same people who have been supporting them previously, and all existing customer support entitlements will remain fully in force. Customers should continue to use support as they have in the past. Support phone numbers and website links will also remain the same.

Q: Who should I contact to obtain customer support and technical support for my existing support contract?
A: Over the coming months we will be leveraging the collective vision and experience of Symantec and VERITAS to define innovative ways to enhance our combined Support offerings, and ultimately your support experience. In the interim, however, customers will continue to receive exceptional support from the same people who have been supporting them previously. Customers should continue to use support as they have in the past. Support phone numbers and website links will also remain the same.

 Partners

Q: Will the combined company have more of a direct focus?
A: Symantec remains committed to developing and enhancing strong relationships with channel partners, for both sales and delivery of products and services. Although there are some cases where Symantec has a direct sales relationship with customers (for very large customers who request a direct relationship with Symantec, for instance), Symantec's normal approach is to work with customers through a wide variety of channel partners. Symantec does not anticipate significant changes to this approach following the merger.
