Symantec Launches Integrated Antivirus and Content Filtering Solution with Centralised Management of Multiple Servers
Symantec Web Security 3.0 Protects Web Traffic With High-Performance, Integrated Virus Scanning and Web Content Filtering at the Gateway
SINGAPORE -- April 14, 2003 -- Symantec Corporation (Nasdaq: SYMC), the world leader in Internet security, today announced Symantec Web Security 3.0, now featuring centralized management of multiple servers. Symantec Web Security is a high-performance, integrated gateway solution that provides Symantec's industry-leading virus protection and web filtering for web-based traffic (HTTP and FTP).
Symantec Web Security's centralized multi-server policy management eases administrative burden. The changes made to the web filtering and virus scanning policies on a Symantec Web Security server are automatically applied to all other Symantec Web Security servers in that network. The newly modified policy or filtering can be set for a user, group or the entire system. Symantec Web Security is a low latency, high-performance solution that meets the needs of both administrators and users.
"Enterprises, academic institutions and government agencies in Singapore are increasingly looking for comprehensive Internet security solutions that do not degrade network performance," said Ross Wilson, Senior Regional Director, SEA, Symantec. "By integrating antivirus and content filtering , Symantec Web Security 3.0 eliminates all unwanted content and malicious code at the gateway, thereby, seamlessly securing and protecting the enterprise network against potential threats."
Symantec Web Security is the only single-vendor, integrated, single-scan antivirus and content filtering solution available on the market. By leveraging the integration of antivirus and content filtering, Symantec Web Security provides organizations with comprehensive protection against malicious code, including blended threats.
Symantec Web Security 3.0 offers enterprise customers a seamless solution to address malware threats and content filtering needs. Symantec Web Security 3.0 continues to provide the following features and functions:
- Protection from malicious code by leveraging Symantec's cross-platform NAVEX scan engine technology and the Digital Immune System, Symantec's unique technology that automates the submission of potential threats and automatically delivers cures to problem machines or the entire enterprise.
- Flexible policy enforcement on a per-user and per-group basis; local control; and automated alerting capabilities.
- List-based URL filtering in 31 comprehensive categories, as well as Symantec's patented heuristic technology, Dynamic Document Review (DDR), a multi-lingual, context-sensitive content analysis technology.
- Comprehensive reporting which automatically provides IT administrators with both virus and content filtering information that can be exported into one complete report.
- Integrated, single-scan anti-virus and web filtering.
In order to provide complete protection of a network, Symantec Web Security should be part of an overall security strategy that includes protection at every tier of the network. Symantec Web Security 3.0, which runs on Solaris, Windows NT and Windows 2000, is backed by an industry-leading team of dedicated security experts at Symantec Security Response.
