How do I use the new Renewal Notifications?

The renewal notice provided by your customer allows you on behalf of your customer or your customer to access the skus necessary to complete the renewal purchase. You are also able to access skus to modify the support level (basic to essential for 24X7 support).
  1. Click the "visit the Symantec Renewal Portal" link provided (see example below) to login with the username and password provided.

  2. If you get a Support Summary page, select the preferred reseller and click on View Details.

  3. On the Contract Details page make any appropriate changes and select Recalculate.

    • NOTE: Select the "Email Estimate" button to get the most accurate pricing and band level once all adjustments to quantity and product have been made on this page. The part numbers on this page are not accurate if you select another support level or if the total quantity been updated or has changed from the order that each line corresponds to.

For example, there are two products from two different orders last year. One item was purchased at band level A for a quantity of 10 and the other product was purchased at band level D for a quanity of 120. Band levels are given in the Current Support Level field. If both products are renewed then the total order and pricing would fall under one band level and in this example band D.

  4. Select Email Estimate and email the MSRP quote with SKUs included to yourself and/or your end user.

    NOTE:
    • Provides the renewal SKUs, renewal band level, and pricing for the renewal order which may not be reflected in the Support Contract Details page
    • MSRP quotes are helpful in winning the renewal deal, as it is a clear way to show your customer how low your prices are compared to purchasing direct with Symantec

What is the difference between Business/Enterprise retail boxed products and the Express Licensing Program?

The retail boxed products come with a set number of user licenses (5, 10, and 25 user) where as when using the Express Licensing Program you are able to purchase a flexible number of licenses above the 5 licenses minimum.  If the boxed product goes beyond it's maintenance expiration date, brand new licenses have to be purchased.  With the Express Licensing Program, once licenses have gone past their maintenance expiration date, Upgrade licenses can be purchased at a discounted rate.

What is the difference between Norton/Consumer products and Business/Enterprise solutions?

Norton/Consumer products are specifically designed for home use on stand-alone desktops or laptops and cannot be utilized in a server-based network (with the exceptions of Norton 360 and Internet Security 2008 which supports up to 3 household PCsand pcAnywhere which can be used in a server-based network). Business/Enterprise solutions are more comprehensive, networkable product families that provide coverage on multiple levels.

My customer purchased a workstation with Norton AntiVirus already installed. Can I offer them an upgrade?

Symantec does not offer an upgrade path from an OEM/retail product to a product licensed under Symantec's Express or Rewards programs. For additional retail upgrade/rebate information, please click here.

My customer is currently using Endpoint Protection or Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition with current maintenance. Recently they have added a mail server into their environment. What would be the best licensing to use for this customer to now also include their mail server?

The best solution for this customer is to utilize the cross grade part numbers and transition them over to the Multi-Tier Protection. By doing this they will receive the Endpoint Protection as well as the Mail Security to cover the new email server in their environment. This solution would be the most cost effective and comprehensive coverage for the customer. For additional information on the Multi-Tier Protection, please click here.

What is the difference between the corporate and retail versions of Ghost?
