Symantec Backup Exec for Netware Servers

Due to changing market conditions, Symantec has decided to discontinue the Backup Exec for NetWare Servers (BENW) product line. Backup Exec for NetWare Servers' discontinuation represents part of Symantec's evolving strategic direction, which involves placing even greater focus on Windows and Linux offerings that aid customers with their data protection and information lifecycle management.

Although we have announced the EOL of Backup Exec 9.2 for NetWare (BENW), Symantec remains committed to delivering optimized data protection for its NetWare customers. However, based on Novell's stated technology direction to discontinue development of the NetWare family of products, Symantec also had to re-evaluate how best to utilize its own engineering resources to continue to support all our NetWare customers - whether they remain on NetWare or plan to migrate to Linux or Windows platforms; whether they continue to use tape backup or want to integrate disk; whether they're running physical or virtual servers, or a combination of all of the above. The capability to address all these advanced data protection requirements is available in the Backup Exec 12.5 for Windows (BEWS) portfolio by utilizing the Remote Agent for NetWare (RANW) in tandem with other specialized BEWS agents and options.
