Symantec Premium AntiSpam 1.0 (SPA) is an add-on subscription service available for Symantec Mail Security for Exchange and for Symantec Mail Security for Domino. SPA is not a standalone product.
Customers MUST have Symantec Mail Security for Exchange or Mail Security for Domino. SPA is only compatible in Windows environments.
SPA is based on the core Brightmail antispam engine and updating technologies. The service is powered by Symantec's Global Intelligence Network, and offers 99% effectiveness and fewer than 1 in 1 million false positives. Along with this best in class accuracy, SPA requires little to no ongoing administration.
SPA is most appropriate for small business environments that need the simplest method for getting antispam protection. All it takes is an activation key and a check box setting to turn on the feature! These customers typically have only one mail server and do not want to change their environment by adding a gateway solution.
Customers looking to eliminate the volume of spam reaching their mail servers, have better reporting and management should be recommended Brightmail Gateway. A small business edition, with small business targeted pricing and licensing is also available.
A Symantec Premium AntiSpam subscription, activated by purchasing a license key, provides best-of-breed spam prevention without ongoing administration after initial setup. Performance is significantly improved in the latest version for faster real-time and mailbox scans and reduced load on the Exchange server.

In addition to the antispam service, licensed SPA customers are also entitled to use the Domino and Exchange Folder Agents, as well as Outlook Plug-in, where appropriate. In addition to support for both Domino and Exchange Folder Agents, also supports the use of the Web-based Spam Quarantine (same technology used in Symantec Brightmail Gateway), providing administrative access, LDAP support for setting up user accounts, spam email digest etc.
