| Symantec™ Multi-tier Protection safeguards your customer’s enterprise assets and lowers risk by providing unmatched protection against malware for laptops, desktops, mobile devices, mail servers, and gateways. It includes Symantec Endpoint Protection, which combines Symantec AntiVirus™ with advanced threat prevention, and helps secure a wide range of operating systems including Windows®, Linux®, and Macintosh®. Symantec Multi-tier Protection leverages Symantec Brightmail™ technology at both the SMTP gateway and Microsoft® Exchange and Lotus Domino® server level to protect email and IM against spam and viruses. It enforces compliance policies and ensures that sensitive data does not leave your customer’s corporate network. It is integrated with other Symantec products and provides a simple way to increase your deal size when combined with every server sale. |

| How to license |
| |
| Determine the total units required by your customer |
|
|
| 1.) Count the total number of each standard (i.e., non-virtualized) endpoint, regardless of endpoint type (e.g., server, email server, laptop, workstation, etc.) to be protected by Symantec Endpoint Protection. |
| 2.) For virtualized environments, (e.g., VMware or Terminal Services), count the total number of separately installed and concurrently running instance of the software to be protected by Symantec Endpoint Protection. |
| 3.) If there are more users of the protected e-mail server(s) than the sum of the quantities in steps #1 and #2, count the number of additional users over that quantity (the number of emailboxes do not need to be counted). |
| 4.) Add together the quantities obtained in steps #1 through #3. This is the total number of units required by your customer. Each desktop, laptop, server, and email server counts equally as one licensable unit. |

| Qualify your customer within a pricing band |
|
|
| Based upon the total units to be purchased on a single order, qualify your customer within a band level (A, B, C, etc). If your customer qualifies for F band pricing you may want to consider the Rewards Licensing Program. |
