Steve Munie, Pinehurst Radiology’s chief information officer (CIO), runs the technology that supports the staff. “There’s greater reliance on IT in radiology than in most other specialties,” Munie explains: large digital files created by imaging machines must be secure, well-organized, and immediately available. Munie’s data center holds seven servers—including a three-server Merge Radiology Information System (RIS) and a Carestream Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
