Detroit’s Wayne State University is centralizing IT and expects to as much as double hosted data in the next year. Data management staff can’t be increased, and the university has turned to Symantec for a data protection upgrade. Projected results include twice as much data accommodated without increasing staff, US$135,000 in reclaimed drive space, 40 percent reduction in staff labor costs for recoveries, and up to fourfold longer data retention capacity, increasing productivity.
