MAC address

A vendor’s Media Access Control hardware address that identifies computers, servers, routers, or other network devices. See also Anti-MAC Spoofing.

Media Access Control address is a unique identifier available in NICs and other networking equipment. Most network protocols use IEEE: MAC-48, EUI-48, and EUI-64, which are designed to be globally unique. A computer in the network can be identified by using its MAC address and IP address.
