Recommendations

Block external access at the network boundary, unless external parties require service.

Deploy network access controls to regulate external access to TCP ports 135, 139, 445, and 593 and to UDP ports 135, 137, 138, and 445. Block external access to any other port ranges that are used dynamically for RPC connections or have been specifically configured for RPC such as port 1025. Since MSDTC listens on port 3372, block that port as well.
Microsoft has released a security bulletin to address this issue.
