Description

Microsoft IIS is prone to a remote denial-of-service vulnerability. An attacker can exploit this issue to force the affected application to become unresponsive, denying service to legitimate users. This issue affects IIS 5.1, 6.0, 7.0, and 7.5.

Recommendations

Block external access at the network boundary, unless external parties require service.

If possible, block external access to the affected application. Permit access for trusted or internal networks and hosts only.

Deploy network intrusion detection systems to monitor network traffic for malicious activity.

Deploy NIDS to monitor network traffic for signs of anomalous or suspicious activity. This may indicate exploit attempts or activity that results from a successful exploit.
