Backdoor.Badcodor

Backdoor.Badcodor is a Backdoor Trojan Horse that gives its creator full control over your computer. The existence of the file, Ios.exe or Msdosdll.exe, is an indication of a possible infection.

Backdoor.Badcodor also contains keylogger capabilities.

On August 18, 2003, Symantec Security Response became aware of an attempt to deceive recipients of an email message into downloading Backdoor.Badcodor. The email message, which is in Portuguese, falsely reproduces a Symantec Web page.

The fake Web page contains the title:

"Virus Win32 Prejudicial e capiturador. Como fazer uma varredura no Windows, Ultilize o VarreSystem"

and contains a link to a file on a Web site. If you click the link, it attempts to download Backdoor.Badcodor.

This email is not from Symantec. If you receive it, delete it.

On January 24, 2004, Symantec Security Response discovered a new email attempting to deceive recipients into downloading this threat. The email message, written in Portuguese and claiming to be from Microsoft, contains a link to a Web page containing the Trojan.

This email does not originate from Microsoft. If you receive this email, Symantec Security Response recommends deleting it.
