Deeyenda is not a virus; it is a hoax that was first spread through email. It may have originated from a student at Carnegie Mellon University.

The mail message describing the virus is taken from the original Good Time virus email hoax.

The message includes the following "warning:"

There is a computer virus that is being sent across the Internet. If you receive an email message with the subject line "Deeyenda", DO NOT read the message, DELETE it immediately.

It als claims that:

...the warning is from the FCC

and that it

...rewrites your hard drive, obliterating anything on it.Please ignore any messages regarding this hoax and do not pass on messages. Passing on messages about the hoax only serves to further propagate it.
