Symantec Security Response has received reports of the following email message. It is a hoax. This email did not originate with Symantec. You are encouraged to delete the hoax. No further action is required.

Here is the text of the hoax email:

This virus simply destroys all data on your harddisk. This virus acts in the following manner: It sends itself automatically to all contacts on your list with the title "A eBook for You". As soon as the supposed eBook is opened, it will appear as though theeBook isn't working, but as soon as you restart or shutdown your computer the next time you turn it on it will format your hardrive, this virus can format 20gig drive in 3seconds, even if you shutdown your computer right away, the next time you powerup it will start fromwhere it left of.
Please Be Careful, and forward to all your on-line friends A.S.A.P. not a lot of people know about it, just let everyone know, so they won't be a victim. Please forward this e-mail. For more information about this virus or to download the fix, please email this message to symsecurity@symantec.com and our automated system will send you an email with more info and a link to download the fix.
