The following hoax, which falsely alleges that the Google search engine is installing the Showbehing.exe file on your system, was reported in July 2003.

Google does not install this file on your system when you use the Google Search engine.

The email is:

Subject: Trojan Horse Virus
Importance: High

Request that everyone that is using the Google Search Engine to please refrain from entering the site until further notice. When accessing the site, a file; "showbehing.exe" is being installed on the workstation. This is a Trojan Horse Virus. E-Trust and Mcafee (Virus detection software) may or may not detect this virus, but neither is able to clean the virus. We have one division that found 27 infected files so far and is working with our security people on a solution.
As soon as I get word, I will let everyone know when it is save to use google again. Until then, please use any other search engine that is
available on the internet.
