When Adware.SurfAccuracy is executed, it performs the following actions:
- Creates the following files:
- %ProgramFiles%\sacc\sacc.cfg
- %ProgramFiles%\sacc\sacc.exe
Note: %ProgramFiles% is a variable that refers to the program files folder. By default, this is C:\Program Files.
- Adds the value:
"SACC" = "%ProgramFiles%\sacc\sacc.exe"
to the registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
so that the risk runs every time Windows starts.
- Creates the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SAcc
- Records keywords typed in popular websearch engines like google and sends this information to a server belonging to the surfaccuracy.com domain.
- May display advertisements.
