When Adware.WebSecureAlert is installed, it performs the following actions:
  1. Creates the following files:

    • %UserProfile%\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\WebSecureAlert.lnk
    • %UserProfile%\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\WebSecureAlert\WebSecureAlert Website.lnk
    • %UserProfile%\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\WebSecureAlert\WebSecureAlert.lnk
    • %ProgramFiles%\WebSecureAlert\INSTALL.LOG
    • %ProgramFiles%\WebSecureAlert\WebSecureAlert Website.URL
    • %ProgramFiles%\WebSecureAlert\WebSecureAlert.exe
    • %ProgramFiles%\WebSecureAlert\WebSecureAlertConfig.ini
    • %ProgramFiles%\WebSecureAlert\WebSecureUninstaller.exe
    • %ProgramFiles%\WebSecureAlert\WSAHelper.dll

      Note:
    • %ProgramFiles% is a variable that refers to the Program Files folder. By default, this is C:\Program Files.
    • %UserProfile% is a variable that refers to the current user's profile folder. By default, this is C:\Documents and Settings\[CURRENT USER] (Windows NT/2000/XP).

  2. Creates the following registry subkeys:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Gator.com\AppInfo\WebSecureAlert
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Gator.com\WebSecureAlert
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
    \Uninstall\WebSecureAlert
    HKEY_ALL_USERS\Software\Gator.com\WebSecureAlert
    HKEY_ALL_USERS\Software\Gator.com\WebSecureAlert

  3. Facilitates the installation of the Adware.GAIN security risk.
