Dean Gonsowski is an eDiscovery attorney in Symantec’s Information Management business unit. Dean brings over fifteen years of e-discovery consulting and legal practice experience to his position as eDiscovery Counsel. He’s a licensed attorney in California and Colorado and is also member of The Sedona Conference Working Group on Electronic Document Retention/Production (WG1), the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) and the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC).

Prior to joining Symantec, Dean ran the professional services group for Clearwell Systems, where he was also the Associate General Counsel. Prior to joining Clearwell, he held a variety of leadership positions with Daticon, Navigant Consulting, Inc. and Fios, Inc. where he assisted law firms and Fortune 500 corporations solve complex electronic discovery and records management issues

Dean has contributed articles to a number of leading industry publications and has been quoted in a notable publications, such as the Financial Times, Forbes and MSNBC.

Allison Walton is an eDiscovery Attorney at Symantec where she is responsible for consulting with corporate legal departments and outside counsel to develop efficient, scalable processes and cost-saving strategies for the archiving, collection, review and storage of email and other electronic data. She also educates organizations on the importance of implementing an end to end archiving solution across electronic discovery reference model (EDRM) to drive down costs, improve efficiency and minimize legal risk.

Walton’s professional experience spans across a wide spectrum of legal support businesses which arms her with the knowledge to develop comprehensive strategies and to understand the concerns corporations are facing with regard to ESI and its explosive and unorganized nature in relation to the FRCP.

Prior to joining Symantec, Allison worked for Liquid Litigation Management, the only online review platform that can take you from discovery to trial . She also worked at Applied Discovery in the Midwest with Fortune 500 clients and was formerly a Business Development Manager for CaseSight Inc., a visual case presentation firm that consults on high stakes intellectual property, product liability and complex commercial litigation. Walton is an active member of the 7th Circuit Pilot eDiscovery Pilot Program and in the eDiscovery community nationwide.

Allison received her Bachelor of Arts in English and Political Science from Denison University, earned her J.D. from the Catholic University of America's Columbus School of Law and passed the Washington, D.C. Bar in 2004. She has been a guest speaker for Northwestern Law School and Loyola Law School on the topic of eDiscovery and has organized and been on numerous thought leadership panels in the space.

Matthew Nelson is an attorney and legal technology expert with more than a decade of experience helping organizations address electronic discovery, regulatory compliance, and other information governance related challenges. He is a member of the Sedona Electronic Document Retention and Production Working Group, the Electronic Discovery Reference Model, and the California and Idaho State Bars. Mr. Nelson has been invited to address a wide array of organizations including American Corporate Counsel, Nevada’s High Technology Crime Task Force, Stanford & Hastings Law Schools, and numerous mid-sized and Fortune 500 Corporations. Prior to joining Clearwell (now a part of Symantec), Mr. Nelson gained extensive litigation and technology experience as a Legal Technology Consultant and as a litigation attorney for Ropers, Majeski, Kohn, & Bentley.

Michael Lappin is an eDiscovery Specialist with Symantec’s Information Management. As a former deposition officer and operations manager of a San Francisco-based litigation support firm, Michael has been heavily involved in discovery for more than 15 years. Michael was responsible for the issuance, service and deposition of over 150,000 California Civil, Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board and Federal District Court subpoenas in the early/mid 1990’s. In addition, Michael worked for CT Corporation as a Corporate Paralegal specializing in Qualifications, Formations, Dissolutions, and Merger and Acquisition filings. At CT Corporation, Michael also worked in the Financial Sector conducting Uniform Commercial Code investigations.

At Symantec, Michael provides customers with technical expertise and best practices guidance around information management, archiving and eDiscovery. Michael is a member of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model consortium, The Sedona Conference, ILTA, and ARMA.

Philip Favro is a Discovery Attorney for Symantec Corporation in Mountain View, California. Phil brings to Symantec practical expertise in electronic discovery. Phil advised technology companies and other clients regarding complex eDiscovery issues during his eleven-year litigation practice. Phil’s expertise has been enhanced by his legal scholarship. His line of research addresses the changes and challenges that electronic data have forcibly introduced into litigation and, in particular, on discovery practice. Phil now works with Symantec customers and company stakeholders on information governance and eDiscovery matters.

Phil has been a licensed member of the California State Bar since 1999. He belongs to the American Bar Association and is a member of the ABA’s Science & Technology Section. Phil is also a member of the Electronic Document Retention and Production (WG1) Working Group of the Sedona Conference. Phil previously chaired the Santa Clara County Bar Association’s High Technology Law Section and was a member of its Board of Trustees. Phil also serves as a Judge Pro Tempore for the Santa Clara County Superior Court.

Sean Regan is the Director of Product Marketing for Symantec’s Information Management business unit. This group is focused on helping organizations of all sizes better store, manage, protect and discover their electronically stored information. Sean has spent the past 9 years focused on the challenges associated with eDiscovery and compliance across messaging and collaboration tools such as instant messaging, email and SharePoint.

Before joining Symantec, Sean worked for IMlogic, an instant messaging and archiving and security firm acquired by Symantec. Prior to that he served as an IT Administrator, where he worked to balance technical and legal considerations related to the early use of Instant Messaging and P2P in the enterprise.

Ted Barassi is Group Product Manager, eDiscovery and Information Risk at Symantec. Ted brings more than 15 years experience as an attorney and technologist in eDiscovery, records management, and information security.

Ted is a member of the New York State Bar and participates as a member of the Electronic Document Retention and Production (WG1) and International Electronic Information Management, Discovery and Disclosure (WG6) Working Groups of the Sedona Conference. He is active in the American Bar Association (ABA), where he sits on the Pretrial Practice and Discovery Committee of the Section of Litigation, the Information Security Committee of the Section of Science and Technology, and the Electronic Evidence Committee of the Business Law Section. He is also a member of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM), and ARMA International.

Before joining Symantec, Ted was Co-Founder, Vice President and Counsel at Acquire Systems, a financial services transactional data analysis firm, where he was responsible for legal affairs, legal and regulatory compliance, and information risk management. Prior to that he held legal positions as a Vice President and Counsel at CertCo, a leading provider of public key-based encryption, authentication, and payment technologies, and as Vice President at Bankers Trust Company, where he was Counsel in the electronic commerce group.

EDRM The Electronic Discovery Reference Model provides a common, flexible and extensible framework for the development, selection, evaluation and use of electronic discovery products and services. The completed model was placed in the public domain in May 2006.
