Giving Back
For the first time ever, Symantec is pleased to invite Vision 2010 attendees to participate in our philanthropic efforts while at the conference. We recognize that your time will be well spent in extensive training sessions, but we would greatly appreciate your support in the following on-site activities, as your schedule permits:

United Way – Kids Pack: Have you ever had your stomach grumble in a meeting? How about that agonizing hour before lunch where you feel you just might not make it. Now imagine yourself, a six-year-old sitting in class on a Monday morning, trying to learn the basics; shapes, colors, addition and subtraction. Your stomach is aching because you didn’t have any dinner last night. In fact, it's been nearly 2-1/2 days since you last ate "real food." The last hot meal you had was at lunchtime on Friday while you were at school.

The fact of the matter is, this situation happens more than anyone would like to admit. So come together and help change this story's ending. While you’re attending Vision 2010, take a few minutes and stop by our volunteer station. The folks at the Volunteer Center of Southern Nevada will be present to help you pack a few bags of food to be donated to the hungry children in the Las Vegas community. Our goal is to pack and donate 500 bags of kid-friendly and nutritious food to students that may otherwise go without food as they head home for the weekend. These 500 bags are a one-week supply for the elementary school children in the area. Can you spare a few minutes to send a child home full, so they can be ready to learn on Monday?

Science Buddies E-mentoring Program: Sign up in the Internet Lounge or from your own laptop to become an online mentor for school kids via Science Buddies. Science Buddies is a non-profit organization empowering students from all walks of life to help themselves and each other develop a love of science and an understanding of the scientific method. With the help of Mentors and Advisors, Science Buddies helps students improve their science skills and literacy, and inspires them to consider additional study or careers in science.

Teacher EXCHANGE: With contributions from conferences like Symantec Vision, the MGM Grand can collect and donate thousands of pounds of conference supplies and materials that would otherwise have been disposed of in local landfills. Symantec will donate banners, foamcore signs, office supplies, and other materials at the end of the conference. These reusable items will then be offered by the Teacher EXCHANGE to Southern Nevada’s public school teachers.

Participate and make a difference: Instead of leaving your unwanted conference materials behind in your hotel room (such as your backpack, notebook, pen, name badge holder, etc.) please drop them off at the Conference Services desk on Wednesday or Thursday of the conference. The team here at the MGM will then take all collected items to the Teacher EXCHANGE to be put to good (re)use in the community.
