CUPERTINO, Calif. -- June 26, 1996 -- Symantec Corporation (Nasdaq:SYMC) announced today the availability of Symantec Café 1.2. Symantec Café is the best selling, cross-platform, visual JavaTM development tool that features Symantec’s award-winning integrated development environment. Since its introduction in March, Café has been the most popular Java-based development tool in the industry. This new update includes several new features including: JDK version 1.0.2, remote debugging, debugger support for exception handling, integrated Just-in-Time compiler and speed improvements in the debugger.
"Symantec Café is clearly the market leader for Java development", said Mansour Safai, general manager of Symantec Internet Tools Division. "With this new 1.2 update, we wanted to provide our customers with the latest Java technologies from Sun, as well as enhance our Java toolset by including several new features such as the fastest JIT for Java, and several advanced debugging features including remote debugging, runtime breakpoints and array browsing."
These new enhancements in Symantec Café provide array browsing while debugging, run-time control of breakpoints, improved support for packages in the debugger and Café Studio along with improved local debugging - no longer requiring TCP/IP, and independence from environment variables.
