Symantec Expert to Discuss Security at WebTek 2001

CUPERTINO, Calif. - March 20, 2001 - Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC) today announced that Rob Clyde, vice president and chief technologist of Symantec's Enterprise Solutions Division, will speak at WebTEK 2001 to be held March 20-22, 2001, in Quebec, Canada.

"We have seen corporations shift their business focus from getting on-line at any cost, to doing e-business securely," said Clyde. "Businesses are realizing the need to take a proactive security stance in order to effectively protect their enterprise from malicious attacks."

The WebTEK conference is a technical training event focusing on the "why's" and "how's" of web technologies and applications for today's business. In his presentation, "Anatomy of Internet Security Attacks," Clyde will explain how hackers break into networks and will explore various attack methods. Topics will include rogue ActiveX and Java applets, exploiting NT, UNIX and CGI Bin holes and buffer overflows, distributed denial of service, password guessing, viruses, backdoors, Trojan horses and more. Clyde will also discuss ways to prevent, detect and respond to these and future security threats.
