CUPERTINO, Calif. - March 17, 2004 - Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC), the world leader in Internet security, today announced that Advanced Call Center Technologies (ACT) has selected Symantec Managed Security Services to monitor and protect its cyber infrastructures. A leading provider of outsourced customer contact services, ACT delivers customized solutions to a range of markets, including financial services, mortgage services, healthcare, telecommunications, and utilities. Symantec Managed Security Services helps businesses, like ACT, manage security risk from emerging threats through real-time threat analysis and an unparalleled global perspective of the security landscape.
As part of the agreement, ACT has deployed Symantec ManHunt, which will be monitored and managed by Symantec Managed Security Services. Symantec ManHunt provides multi-gigabit network intrusion detection, real-time threat analysis, and proactive prevention and response capabilities to protect organizations against emerging threats and denial-of-service attacks. From Symantec's Security Operations Centers, Symantec security experts will analyze security data generated by ManHunt to identify suspicious network activity, investigate and prioritize each incident, and then initiate a response in accordance with ACT's customized escalation procedures. Working closely with ACT, Symantec security analysts and engineers will take action to defend against intrusions before a crippling loss of information can occur.
"As a service provider for industry-leading organizations across the globe, the protection of our clients' information, as well as our own, from malicious disclosure or damage is an absolute priority," said Gary Podbielski, director of Information Technology for ACT. "The growth of our network and the increasing complexity of cyber attacks over the last two years has made security one of our highest priorities. The most effective way to protect our customers' information was to partner with a full-time security vendor. Symantec offered the perfect fit for our needs with a comprehensive set of security solutions combined with a team of experts to monitor and manage our security posture at all times."
Today's current threat landscape prompted ACT to re-evaluate its information security strategy. As a result, ACT realized its network needed security solutions at multiple tiers and full-time security monitoring and management for comprehensive protection. ACT based its selection of Symantec on Symantec's integrated set of security solutions as well as its reputation for product reliability, world-class support, and market leadership.
"More and more companies are partnering with outside security vendors to help monitor and manage the protection of their networks and reduce overall business security risk," said Grant Geyer, vice president of Symantec Global Managed Security Services. "By turning to Symantec to manage its security infrastructure, ACT is able to minimize its investment in technology and internal resources while effectively solving security issues. Consequently, its IT department can focus more on supporting the needs of its customers to accomplish ACT's core business initiatives."
