Clearwell Systems Announces Nationwide Roll-Out of "Clearwell University"

Expansion of Education Programs Driven by Increasing Demand from Litigation Support Service Providers, Law Firms and In-House Corporate Users
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — March 17, 2009 — Clearwell Systems, Inc., a leader in intelligent e-discovery, today announced that its "Clearwell University" training and certification program is expanding to include sessions across the U.S., as well as specific modules customized for litigation support service providers, law firms and in-house corporate users. With momentum since its inception in early 2008, Clearwell University has delivered significant value by educating over 100 e-discovery professionals with in-depth, defensible best practices in processing, analyzing, and reviewing electronically stored data using the Clearwell E-Discovery Platform.

“Prior to our deployment of Clearwell, we regularly received requests to get a quick peek at large volumes of data and cull it down to the subset the attorneys wanted to review, but we didn’t have a good solution to recommend,” said Harold Edison, manager of Litigation Support at Quinn Emanuel, Los Angeles. “The Clearwell E-Discovery Platform has a very easy to use interface which enabled our legal teams to begin using it right away. Attending Clearwell University provided us with best practices garnered from other leading law firms and corporations, and helped us offer our attorneys a defensible and cost-effective e-discovery workflow. The course enabled a smoother transition for the Clearwell deployment within our firm, and better management of the e-discovery process as a whole.”

Historically, courses were held at the companys headquarters in Mountain View, Calif. In order to meet the increased demand, Clearwell University will also be held in Washington D.C. and New York in the first half of the year, with additional courses in Chicago and Dallas during the second half of the year. The course includes training for both administrators and end users of the Clearwell E-Discovery Platform, with course material specialized for each groups needs. Clearwell University holds approximately one session per month, with no more than 15 students in each course to ensure hands-on training. “As an increasing number of enterprise legal teams experience painfully work through matters involving ESI, general counsel will look to bring the most expensive phases of e-discovery in-house to reduce costs and gain better control of the overall process,” said Brian Babineau, senior analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group. “Bringing e-discovery in-house successfully will require feature-rich technology and personnel trained on how to leverage technology to get the most benefit. Clearwell University represents the best practices and business processes behind its E-Discovery Platform, reinforcing Clearwell’s expertise in e-discovery and positioning the company as a dominant player in the space.”
