Symantec Chief Executive Officer John Thompson Visits Washington, D.C.
February 06, 2008 In an effort to maintain Symantec's thought leadership position regarding government relations and cyber security issues, Symantec's chief executive officer John Thompson met with a number of federal public policy officials in Washington D.C. on Feb. 6, 2008.
Among the number of individuals that Thompson held briefings with, included were the following: Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, (D-CA); Rep. Rahm Emanuel, (D-IL); Rep. Bart Gordon, (D-TN); and Rep. Dan Langevin, (D-RI).
On the Senate side, Thompson met with Sen. Dianne Feinstein, (D-CA); Sen. Tom Harkin, (D-Iowa); Sen. Debbie Stabenow, (D-MI); Sen. Joe Lieberman, (I-CT); and Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME).
Topics of discussion ranged from patent reform to the need for legislation regarding cyber crimes and data breach notification.
In addition, Thomspon met with officials from the Cyber Security Industry Association and the Business Software Alliance.
