Symantec Hosts European-American Business Council
March 25, 2008 Symantec hosted the European-American Business Council at Symantec's world headquarters in Cupertino, CA. The delegation included representatives from the embassies of Sweden Germany, Ireland, Slovenia, England, Poland, the European Union, and the ambassador of Estonia.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss economic develop opportunities for Europe with the IT industry, along with an update on various public policy issues within Europe affecting the IT industry.
The meeting also provided the attendees with an opportunity to become more familiar with Symantec and its' offerings. As such Symantec's chief financial officer James Beer provided a general company overview, while Marc Brandon, director of Symantec's Global Brand Protection team, outlined challenges in Europe regarding intellectual property enforcement and combating counterfeit software. In addition, Zulfikar Ramzan updated the attendees on the latest trends in cyber security based on Symantec's latest Internet Security Threat Report. Lastly, Adam Rak, senior director, Symantec Government Relations, discussed areas of possible coordination regarding public policy objectives in Europe and in the United States regarding cyber security and online information protection.
