Director, Symantec Security Response
Thomas Parsons is a Director in Symantec’s Security Response group and is based in Dublin, Ireland. He is currently responsible for the quality assurance (QA) of Symantec’s security content. He leads a 70-person global team based in Japan, China, India, Ireland and the USA.
Parsons has been with Symantec for 14 years and was a member of Symantec Security Response’s inaugural 24 x 7 x 365 team, which was created in 2003. Between 2003 and 2006 Parsons worked as a Security Response Manager (SRM) and led Symantec’s response to global threats such as Mydoom and Sobig. Prior to this he worked in the Shared Engineering Services group as an engineering lead on Symantec’s flagship Endpoint Protection security products.
Parsons speaks regularly at conferences and events, including Symantec’s VISION (for customers), Next@Norton (for journalists) and Cutting Edge (for engineers), on topics ranging from the mobile threat landscape, threat intelligence, reputation based security, false positive prevention, and software white-listing. He is an official Symantec spokesperson and has appeared in printed articles on BBC online, CNNMoney, PCMag, CNET, and Computer Weekly amongst others.
Parsons holds a Bachelor of Science in Property Economics (1997) and a Master of Science in Management of Information Systems (2009), both from Trinity College, Dublin.
