You need to regenerate the Pubkey.crt file for a Ghost Client that cannot connect to the Ghost Console.

Solution

To regenerate the Pubkey.crt file

  1. On the client computer, open the Pubkey.crt file with Notepad.
  2. Delete the entire contents of the file.
  3. At the beginning of the file, type the name of the Ghost Console.
Do not press Enter after the Console name.
  4. Save the file.

After making changes, stop, then start the Ghost Client service. The Pubkey.crt file will be automatically populated by the Console.

Notes:

  • You can copy the newly created Pubkey.crt file to all Clients that you want to report to the same Console.
  • If you use a blank Pubkey.crt file, the Ghost Client will bind to the first Ghost Console that it finds on the network.
  • Because Ghost 7.5 and 8.0 automatically update the file Pubkey.crt in the Ghost Boot Partition or Ghost Virtual Boot Partition every time a Task is run, manually replacing the Pubkey.crt file in the Ghost Boot Partition is not necessary.
