Issue

How is the error resolved?

Cause

Causes include: - Wrong credentials. - Simple file sharing turned on when accessing Windows XP. - Firewalls. - IEEE 802.1x authentication disabled.

Solution

Use the local adminstrator credentials.

  • Disable ' Simple File Sharing ' on computers running Windows XP. Click on Start > Explore > Tools > Folder Options > View > Advanced Settings. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the list.
  • Temporarily disable any firewalls. If that helps, configure the firewalls using the document 'How the Ghost Console and Client communicate over the network' available at http://service1.symantec.com/support/on-technology.nsf/docid/2002101612025325?Open&seg=w
  • Check for IEEE 802.1 authentication: Click on Control Panel > Network Connections > Local Area Connection > Properties > Authetication > Check IEEE 802.1x authentication.
